Katie is an Inuk woman who was born in Iqaluit, Nunavut. However, she is apart of the 60s Scoop and was raised in the traditional T’Souke Nation. She currently is an invited guest from Skip Dick in Lekwugen Territory. She is completely her undergrad at UVIC and working as a Research Assistant in the Fine Arts Department.
Katie creates and works with sealskin that is sustainably harvested in Nunavut, and is self-taught. She is grateful to her sister Sarah, for sending her the sealskins from Iqaluit. Katie feels that her gift of creating is blood memory, because many of her biological family members are Inuit Artists from Kinngait.
