Beverley King is a Newfoundland artist (BFA ’93) of Mi’kmaq and European descent and is a member of Qalipu First Nation Band. She has been creating sealskin products such as jewelry, brooches and ornaments under her brand “BWSealStyle” since 2016. She started working with sealskin through the St. John’s Mi’kmaq Women’s Circle, of which she is a founding member. It soon became a passion of hers as she used it to help move on from the caregiving role after her parents passed away. She is a certified Silver Feather Artist which indicates her work is accepted by her Mi’kmaq community of Bay St. George as authentic indigenous art. She combines natural materials such as pelt, leather, fur and antler with man-made materials
