Eva is inuk from Puvirnituq, Nunavik. Her mom made the decision to move in Montreal when she met her then boyfriend Richard, a french canadian man from the Laurentians, when she was a year and a half. Eva is bilingual (French and English) and has been living in the Montreal Area since the age of 5. She also has tried to learn one inuktitut word a day on Tik Tok during the pandemic. (Is actively looking for someone to teach her Nunavik dialect!). She has been beading since the winter of 2021, has started working with seal skin in the summer of 2024 to connect deeper with her inuit heritage. This format of expressing her creativity is healing for her, having a sense of being closer to her ancestors by working with traditional materials.
Eva is an activist for the Land Back movement, where she believes in reintroducing ancestral knowledge of the land from the diverse indigenous stewards of Turtle Island. She is an advocate for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples, which includes women, girls, boys, men and two spirited people. Eva is a strong believer that decolonizing mentalities and spirits will heal all humanity, as we need to take care of our Mother Earth and all of its inhabitants. Eva is also standing with causes like Wet’suet’en and all the water protectors of the “Americas” and against fossil fuel project that destroys many lands.
