Cheryl Fennell

Cheryl Fennell is of Metis background and was born in Yellowknife. Cheryl has traveled around the circumpolar world and has lived in Cambridge Bay, Inuvik, and Fort Smith and now resides in her home town Yellowknife. Cheryl loves to integrate traditional designs with contemporary ideas in a unique way. She prefers to work with sealskin and incorporates it in her sewing projects, such as unique, one-of-a-kind dresses, purses, jewelry, and her latest interest - furniture and art. She loves to help bring awareness of the beauty and usefulness of sealskin by undertaking special projects such as creating sealskin keychains for NWT junior kindergarteners to have and help bring comfort to them at school. Among other projects to promote sealskin, she has also created a limited edition of her sealskin cuffs for Six Shooter Records for National Seal Products Day and a sealskin and sinew bookmark to help promote Split Tooth by Tanya Tagaq.
